How fantastic to read that the redevelopment of hi

How fantastic to read that the redevelopment of historic Borde Hill’s walled garden is about to begin! It’s a couple of years since I took these record-keeping photos of this magical space, and with @ann_mariepowell’s thoughtful and skilled vision, it’s now to become the most wonderful kitchen garden. @bordehillgarden have a forward-thinking ethos of keeping heritage varieties thriving, making their growing as sustainable and climate-friendly as they can, and providing a dining experience where there will be fruit and vegetables sourced directly from the garden and nearby farm surroundings. These are the ‘Before’ pictures… I just can’t wait to see how this ‘Secret Garden’ re-emerges in its authentic restoration!

Gratitude for the winter solstice, and the cycle and turning of the year, with these sunrise scenes from Beth Chatto’s Gardens this week. The return of the light, and of a new season of energy and growth, is such a hopeful thing. But right now, in this slumbering time of deep recuperation, the only job we need concentrate on is doing our best to rest. Reward yourself for the hard challenges you’ve met with this year by calming that nervous system of yours! We’re all tired, we’re deep into the darkness; rest.
